Publishing Facts and Figures

A few months ago I was asked to be a guest on Writers2Writers  a local cable show for writers. Just as I thought it was a really fun and different experience. I'm not sure I've ever been on TV as an actual guest. The group I met were all so wonderful that I wished I had been able to hang around longer.

So with only some nervousness I'm passing along my first TV interview:

And if you liked it you should definitely check out their other interviews. There's a lot to learn there.

  1. I loved this interview. It was really informative! I'd heard about not getting money in a lump sum while reading one of Cheryl Strayed's interviews a while back. She talked about how difficult her financial situation was, (unable to make a house payment or rent or something)while she was flying about on book events, or something like that. She and her husband were on their cell phones, laughing, but it was like, "uh, how can we make this payment?" She said it was a bit surreal to be recognizing all the success while waiting on a payout.

  2. Well done! Great lesson from an experienced pro. Didn't realize that advances weren't paid all at once, nor that different book formats had different commission structures. Thanks for sharing!

  3. OMG I swear I just fell off the turnip truck. When did you start blogging again. I am so out of the loop. I cannot tell you how glad I am to see you out here again.
    Prepare for my presence.
You were very kind to me always as I navigated my way as a beginner, blogging and writing and getting to know how things work.
I used to be Wry Wryter, now I'm Carolynnwith2Ns and love that you are here again.
I'm off to watch your interview.

  7. This is why I am going to look for an agent instead of self publishing! I am glad there are people out there who have this knowledge, you presented the information very well. Nice debut!

  9. I had no idea you were blogging again! I really enjoyed the interview--especially the comments on revisions. They helped me put my current process in a better perspective. At least I'm not writing an entirely new book--yet! It's good to have you back!
