Query Status
Due to an unexpected week out of the office I’m getting no better at catching up on my queries. Give me a few weeks and this will look a lot better, but for now I stand at 700 or so queries in my in-box dating back to January 28.
Suggestion from an old broad--sit down, have a glass of good wine (or two or three) play with the kidlets, pet the dog, have a quiet evening without guilt and THEN deal with it. Having a life is acceptable. It's taken me awhile to figure that out, but it's important.
I didn't get the impression she felt guilty about it in the least. It's hard to imagine an agent or editor feeling guilty about how long they take to respond to unsolicited pitches from people they don't know. It's more a daunting chore -- going through hundreds of emails, knowing 99% of them won't interest you on the slight chance of finding something worthwhile.

How can you possibly deal with that many???? I think mine is added to your bunch! (But mine is RELAXING, UPLIFTING, the type of query you WANT to read as you are weeding through the boring ones...)

700 queries?! Goodness, now I know why it takes agents and publishers so long to get back to us. Good luck!
That's alot of queries! :O
Jessica, read my lips: HIRE SOME HELP! Don't you know any good unemployed editors or agents who you trust enough to help with your slush pile??
