My father was the nicest guy you’d ever want to down a vodka on the rocks with. The saying goes…‘nice guys finish last’ …naw… not the nice guy I grew up with. Every dream he had came true and he had big dreams.
Work hard, be nice, floss, don’t park by the yellow curb and pay attention to the person in front of you in line. Sometimes they just need a little extra change.
Ms. Trite says: What the world needs now is...fill in the blank.
I struggle with being nice. Often, I find myself face to face with manipulative people trying to take me down to feel better. My greatest triumph? Knowing I'm still smiling and happy.
Although my dominate tendency is to be nice, I struggle with fantasy's of ripping people (verbally) to shreds when they start being emotinally abusive or manipulative.
I feel isolated like there isn't a person in the world I can get close to.
After blogging for a couple of years and nobody leaving a comment even when I try to be engaging/open/thoughtful, I feel like the people who are cruel in my life are right about me.
Please keep that in mind when you visit a lonely blogsite. You'd make another writer's day if you would just say hello.
And I wish people would not only be nice and work hard, but recognize when there is a nice hardworking person out there and cut them some slack once in a while when they are not being entirely nice or hardworking.
Please always remember, always, always, to the bastards that break your heart, the wheel really does come around. I know it is a cliche, trite, whatever, but Karma evens the playing field my dear.
If people are not kind and if their lives run so fast that you are left in their dust...sweetie brush yourself off and be thankful you are not one of them. You smile, you leave the messages, you take the high road and you know what...the place you end up will fulfill all your dreams because nice guys, nice people, finish on top.
Hello...hello...I am saying hello because I know how you feel. Stay nice.

OMG...I just realized something. Today would have been my father's
90th birthday, if he were still celebrating birthdays.
Happy birthday Mr. Nice Guy.
I'm going to have good cry now.
Miss ya dad.
And it describes you perfectly, Jessica!

That about sums it up.
I agree with Laura Campbell.

@Elena Solodow beat me to the punch ;)
So, so true. People rely so much on luck or perceived talent, but hard work and consideration I really believe can get you pretty much anywhere.

I agree with you dear, sweet Anonymous.

Hey Sweet Anonymous...

It's true. Work hard and be nice to people. You should be nice to people around you to earn a respect from them.
Love this photo. When it comes down to it, this is it.
